Overview:
Grace. /ɡrās/ noun
1. simple elegance. 2. courteous goodwill.
“While we work as a community to be more inclusive, we must acknowledge that making societal change is a process. We all need a little bit of grace in our lives. May we apply grace to ourselves when we fall short and generously extend grace to others as we work collectively toward a more accepting maker community and world at large.” - Denise Bayron
This pattern was published in Issue 8 of Laine Magazine, a Nordic knit and lifestyle magazine. I have the distinct honor of being the first black person to contribute a design to Laine Magazine. This design is also Laine's first pairing of a black model with a black designer. As an Afrolatina, I am incredibly proud of this partnership with team Laine, who treated me with great kindness and generosity. I hope that knitting and wearing Grace will bring you great joy and pride. Your support is a step toward making the world a more inclusive place for people who look like me and anyone who has felt othered. Thank you.

The Grace Pullover is worked seamlessly from the top down with raglan increases for the yoke and sleeves. The construction is as simple as the design. There are a few fun bits like German short rows for neck shaping and simple cables that can be done without a cable needle. The decreases on the sleeves line up with the increases on the yoke to create a graphic line from the neckline to the elbow. Cables are incorporated from the neckline straight down to the hemline. The creamy white color used in the sample is like a blank slate that allows the textured details to shine.
